Summer Fabulous Find Alert! Greek Gods’ Yogurt

They say the first step to overcoming an addiction is admitting you have a problem, so here it is: I am absolutely addicted to froyo.

Now in case you’ve lived in a cave for the past few years, froyo is the shortened version of the words frozen yogurt, and it’s taking over.

You can’t go three blocks without finding a frozen yogurt shop these days, and I love it.

You can imagine my utter and complete joy when I moved to Florida for school and found a Red Mango (one of my absolute favorite yogurt shops) just three blocks away from my house.

I used to eat it so much that my roommates would place bets on whether or not I’d walk in the door after class with an empty froyo cup from the walk home (I quickly wisened up and starting throwing them in the recycle bin before I walked in the door).

However, after a few months of feeding my froyo habbit, I came to a sad realization… froyo is expensive.

For the average person, three or four dollars here and there is no big deal. But for a broke grad student, eating froyo three or four times a week? It gets pricey!

I needed an at home solution that would curb my yogurt craving, and give my wallet a rest.

Greek Gods Yogurt

Enter Greek Gods’ Yogurt; the absolute best tasting yogurt, Greek or otherwise, that this self proclaimed yogurt expert has ever tasted.

Trust me, that’s no small accolade!

Living up to its name, this stuff is truly heaven-sent, and the absolute perfect at home froyo substitute.

In particular it makes an awesome summertime snack; a strawberry banana parfait. It’s sweet, but still wonderfully light and refreshing.

To make this simple treat, grab a few glasses, some Greek Gods’ yogurt (any flavor but I prefer Honey Vanilla), strawberries, bananas and any other fruit you’re craving, and some granola (my favorite for this particular dessert is Special K Granola).

Parfait Layers

Start off with a layer of granola, then add slices of strawberry and banana.

Cover that with a layer of yogurt, and repeat the process till you’ve reached the top of the cup.

Top it all off with a pretty arrangement of fruit and you have a delicious and adorable summer treat.

Mary Kate after eating her parfait

I had these with my friend Lauren and her adorable daughter Mary Kate after a fun afternoon swim. As you can see, they’re definitely a crowd pleaser on a hot summer day!

Next time you’re at the store, be sure to pick up some Greek Gods’ Yogurt, and try out these parfaits for yourself.

It can be a bit tricky to find it sometimes as only select grocery stores carry it, but enter your information at their website and they’ll help you find a store that sells it near you.

On a side note, check out my friend and fellow blogger at trainwithkaitlin.com. She’s got a great blog post here on the health benefits of froyo.

Kaitlin shares some great tips, tricks and recipes for staying healthy and keeping an active lifestyle.

We can all have our cake and eat it too, as long as we make healthy decisions in between slices :) Check her out!

Until next time,

Happy Baking!

  1. My FAVORITE yogurt of all time! (But putting anything IN a yogurt container other than honey seems sacrilegious, right?) Can’t wait to get to the store/garden and make those awesome parfaits!
